How can a communist country like China have a good economy and all that? look how they treat their own people?

I will never understand how or why China has become so powerful and their economy so great. They make kiddies work for chump change. They treat their own people like crap. they are awful on human rights. I mean the list goes on and on. Is it just because their crap is cheap?
