What kind of accent did people have in the 1920's?

Listening to an interview of Florence Ballard although this was in 1965 she was only 21/22 yet she had a much older woman like a middle age sounding voice,but one thing I noticed is that she used more enunciation which maybe could be the reason.language is always evolving and has been since the beggining of history but did people talk slower or something listening.not too different its just language has gotten so kiddie that women still sound like middle school girls.
