Little Kid - Big feet issues?

My daughter is 3 and has a pair of kiddie roller skates. Her shoe size is 7-8. She has a lil boy friend who is 3 who I want to get a pair for his bday and they go up to sz 12 shoe supposedly. This kid wears like sz 10 already. I was at the store trying my best to jam a sz 10 shoe into these skates that supposedly go up to sz 12 and the sz 10 barely fits. 12 Doesn't stand a chance. The skates that will fit his feet are roller blades for a 5-8 year old! I'm not buying a 3 year old roller blades. What are my other options? I know this has got to be a joke bc other little boys can have big feet too! And this is big deal because he already has everything else so skates would be something he'd really like & doesn't already have! Plus affordable. I really had my heart set
